GM Friends of Palestine (GMFP) is committed to maintaining all personal data of its supporters in a secure manner, in line with current legislation. GMFP carries out strict security measures to keep supporters’ data safe from unauthorised access, loss or destruction.
What data do we collect and how do we use it?
We collect personal data such as name, email address, address, phone number and details of a donation. These data are kept on a secure server.
These data are collected in order to keep supporters up to date with our campaigns and to enable GMFP to contact supporters by constituency should they wish.
GMFP does not cold call. We would only contact you by phone if there was an issue with something you have contacted us for, such as a donation, an event booking, or a local action. We would only contact you by post, telephone, text or email if you have specifically selected that option as a means of communication or specifically requested this in a communication.
Disclosing and sharing data
We will never sell your personal data. We will never share your data with a third party.
Any personal information you provide, including your email address, will not be passed on to any third party with the exception if you sign a petition or similar, these details will be passed to the person or body to whom it is addressed.
We do not retain personal information longer than it is required.
What are cookies and how do we use them?
Cookies are small text files that your web browser places on your computer to record your browsing activity. GMFP websites use Google Analytics to provide statistics on visiting traffic. Google states:
Like many services, Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to report on visitor interactions. These cookies are used to store non-personally identifiable information, such as what time the current visit occurred, whether the visitor has been to the site before, and what site referred the visitor to the web page. Browsers do not share first-party cookies across domains.
If you are not comfortable with cookies being used in this way, you can use your web browser’s privacy features to disable them. If you don’t disable them and continue to view GMFP’s websites you are consenting to the use of cookies.
What if there’s a data security breach?
According to the Information Commissioner’s Office, personal data breaches occur:
- when data is lost, destroyed, corrupted or disclosed;
- if someone accesses the data or passes it on without proper authorisation;
- or if data is made unavailable and this unavailability has a significant negative effect on individuals.
GMFP complies with all relevant legislation in identifying and responding to personal data security breaches. This includes documenting all breaches, notifying the Information Commissioner’s Office of a breach within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, and notifying and advising affected individuals in compliance with relevant legislation.
Data accuracy or changing your mind about how we can contact you
GMFP endeavours to keep the data we hold as up to date and accurate as possible. If any of your details change, or if you would like to know what information about you we hold, please contact us using any of the methods below.
Supporters can opt in or out of GMFP mailing lists when joining GMFP and can unsubscribe themselves from mailing lists at any time by:
