The Big Ride Manchester Send Off

End the Siege of Gaza –  End the Arms Trade with Israel

  • The second Big Ride is taking place 6-8th August 2016 to mark the second anniversary of Israel’s bombardment of Gaza in 2014 .
  • Four rides, starting from London, Bristol, Manchester, & Sheffield, will meet in Birmingham, before heading en-masse to Shenstone, where Israel’s largest arms company Elbit Systems manufactures engines for the military drone aircraft used to attack Gaza in 2014.

Vigil & Protest for Nakba Day – Sunday 15th May

12:00 pm – 2:00 pm Piccadilly Gardens,

This year will be the 68th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba.  Between 1947 and 1949 an estimated 750,000 Palestinians were forced from the homes into exile, the overwhelming majority never to return. Hundreds of Palestinian towns and villages were depopulated and destroyed.

To mark the remember the Nakba there will be a vigil from 12 noon to 2 pm on Sunday 15th May in Piccadilly Garden.

Manchester Palestine Action are organizing a camp in Piccadilly Gardens with speakers, a live link to Gaza and film showings over 14-15 May.

2pm Introduction to trauma and resilience from Rachel Pollard, a psychotherapist, introducing  Samah Jabr a Palestinian psychologist on film.  Hear from Kholoud al Ajarma from Aida Refugee Camp, Bethlehem and Kholood Ersheid from Nazareth.

3pm “View” – A new a film from The Freedom Theatre of Jenin.

4pm to 5 pm Workshops and Panel discussion on what we can do.

Thanks to everyone who was able to support our amazing fundraising event on 11th October . Over 70 people came to the event and heard a moving
and powerful presentation by Dr Mona El-Farra from Gaza. Her description of life under occupation and of the resilience shown by Palestinians spoke to us all. We were also delighted to welcome our local MP, Debbie Abrahams, who also addressed the meeting.

We raised in the region of £950 (money is still coming in) and, as importantly, raised awareness of life under occupation and the challenges faced by women wishing to gain access to higher education
