DSEI (Defence & Security Equipment International) is one of the world’s largest arms fairs. It’s due to take place in London’s Docklands from 15th to 18th  September this year. There will be 1500 exhibitors from around the world and buyers will include regimes involved in conflict and human rights abuses. One of the major exhibitors will be Israel. The UK Government is heavily involved in the Arms Trade, spending, at a time of austerity, £37,000,000,000 every year on armaments.

There’s a week of action down in London before the Arms Fair aimed at disrupting and stopping it. If you can’t make it down to London, join the action in Manchester.

Manchester PSC together with Campaign Against the Arms Trade and CND are planning an event on Saturday 12th September from 11am until 1pm in Piccadilly Gardens. We’re going to set up a mock Israeli DSEI Arms Fair stall. We’ll tell people about the Arms Fair and about Israel’s disgraceful use of armaments, giving out leaflets and carrying banners. We’ll have people dressed up as UK Government officials trying to give ‘money’ to potential arms dealers while NHS staff will be begging for money and of course being refused. It should be lots of fun.

Please contact Sandy at Manchester PSC if you’d like to be involved and help organise the action: sandybroadhurst@btinternet.com.
