Public Meeting on Refugees

Palestinian Refugees and their Right of Return
Speaker: Saif Kassis (BADIL)

Thursday 11th May, 19:00-21:00 Friends Meeting House, Mount Street, Manchester, M2 5NS

We are really pleased to welcome Saif Kassis, the international advocacy officer for BADIL, the Resource Centre for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights. BADIL is an independent, human rights non-profit organization committed to defending and promoting the rights of Palestinian refugees and internally displaced persons. He will give us an up-to-date view on Palestinian Refugees and the Right of Return and tell us more about BADIL’s work.

May 15th this year will mark the 75th anniversary of the Nakba when more than 750,000 Palestinians were made refugees and over 500 Palestinian towns and villages were destroyed during the creation of state of Israel in 1948.

Palestinian refugees continue to be denied the Right to Return to their former places of residence., a right that is enshrined in a number of UN resolutions.  Israel’s exclusion of refugees is a flagrant violation of international law that has left millions of Palestinians in a perpetual limbo of forced displacement. What is  Amnesty International’s report on Israel, published in 2022,  say the denial of the Right of Return of Palestinian refugees is an important aspect of it’s apartheid system.
