Join The #GMPFDivest Twitterstorm

This Friday, July 15th, The Management Panel and Advisory Panel of the Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMFP) will be holding a virtual meeting.

Tweet #GMPFDivest on July 15th 2022, from 9.00 a.m. GMT, that they divest from companies that support the occupation of Palestine.

While the panel meetings will be running, we will be organising an online mobilisation to really drive home the message.

Our goal is to deliver messages to the GMPF Management Panel and Advisory Panel members so they know scheme members and council tax payers demand action.

Let’s use Twitter to make some noise for Palestine.

Kanafani Lives!

Youth Front for Palestine is answering the call put out by @palestinianyouthmovement and @samidounnetwork to host an event to mark the 50th anniversary of the assassination of the Palestinian revolutionary writer Ghassan Kanafani, who was killed alongside his niece by a car bomb in Beirut in 1972.

In honour of Kanafani’s belief in the power of art and culture, represented by his concept of “resistance literature”, we will be hosting a poetry evening on 7th July, from 6pm-8pm, at Friends’ Meeting House in central Manchester.

Beginning with a reading of some of Kanafani’s work, we will hear poems by various Palestinian writers as well as by figures from other progressive causes, such as Assata Shakur and Linton Kwesi Johnson. Comrade Kanafani was a true Palestinian patriot but he was also an internationalist who saw Palestinian liberation as being inextricably tied to the freedom of all oppressed people.

Let this evening also be a moment to champion young creatives! If any young person wishes to read their work at the event, please get in touch via our insta messages @y.f.f.p or feel free to come up and speak on the day!

This event is open to all youth but parents, guardians and other supporters are also welcome! Please arrive on time for a 6:15pm start.

Long Live Kanafani! Long Live Palestine!

Support Elbit Activists in Stafford Crown Court – “DROP THE CHARGES NOT THE BOMBS!” (Day 1)

The trial at Stafford Crown court is NOT going ahead tomorrow, Wednesday 15th.

It is still on a reserve list so could go ahead on Thursday or Friday.

Support Palestine Action Activists at Stafford Crown Court “DROP THE CHARGES NOT THE BOMBS!”

Note; the court may not confirm that the trial will go ahead until the day before, but we expect that it WILL go ahead, so supporters are asked to rally from 9 a.m. on day one of the court case. The trial is due to last two days.

Emergency support needed for Palestine Action’s first crown court trial which will c run for two days. Mobilisation required both days from 9am outside Stafford Crown Court, the Combined Court Centre, Victoria Square, Stafford ST16 2QQ – cars are going from Manchester contact for lifts.

Really make an effort to come – this is the FIRST Crown Court case with a jury so numbers outside to meet the jurors are VITAL. It is clear the actions Palestine Action are taking and the movement building around them is terrifying Israel’s arms industry here. These brave activists deserve our support.
