POSSIBLY THE OLDEST GREEN-WASHING ORGANISATION IN THE WORLD
Israel often carries out its actions against the Palestinian under the auspices of environmentalism. The Jewish National Fund (JNF, also known by its Hebrew name Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael, KKL) is an Israeli para-statal company established in Britain in 1901 for the sole purpose of the colonisation of Palestine by obtaining Palestinian land and, as ‘custodian for the Jewish people’, making it available solely for Jewish settlers.
To its shame the United Nations has been granted the JNFstatus observer to the Conferences of Parties (COP) to the Framework Convention on Climate Change (FCCC) , as the main purpose of the JNF is still the ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Palestinian population. It accompanies the Israeli government to COP26.
Throughout its existence, events demonstrate that it has practised ethnic cleansing resulting in apartheid – expelling and segregating Palestinians – often in collaboration with the Israeli military and Zionist militias. JNF-sponsored forests were developed to conceal the ruins of Palestinian village destroyed during the creation of the state of Israel and the occupation of the West Bank. It continues to seize Palestinian land. For example, recent forest expansion has been used as a pretext for demolishing the Bedouin village of Umm al-Hiran in the Naqab (Negev).
The JNF’s claim to be the oldest green organisation in the world is clearly false as it is supposed environmentalism is greenwashing its real purpose. The JNF should not be welcomed at COP26 nor be permitted observer status.
