Protest at Trafford Council Meeting

Trafford Town Halls flew the flag for Ukraine and lit up blue for Israel after October 7th, but refused to do either for the victims of the bombing of Gaza

Over 500 signatures were collected on a petition demanding equal respect for Palestinian lives. This number should, according to the Council’s website, require the issue to be debated at a full Council meeting

Instead the Council rushed through a change of Policy forbidding the lighting up of Council buildings and rejected our petition, thus ignoring the democratically expressed wishes of everyone who signed in good faith in accordance with Council rules

We refuse to accept this lying down. We will protest at the full Council meeting on 31st January. All the Councillors will be there

They may refuse to commemorate the murdered children, women and men of Gaza, but we will have our own commemoration

Bring flags, signs, lights, torches, most of all bring yourselves and others

Stop Profiting From Genocide!

Saturday 20th January, 12:00pm, St Peter’s Square Manchester.

100 days. This is the number of days the people of Gaza have been living all kinds of horrors and suffering. 100 days that feel like 100 years for those suffering continuous bombings, torture, starvation and loss.

“Engage with tangible actions, not mere words; fortitude not despair; strength not fear”. This is what a Gaza Coalition, a group of Palestinians in Gaza and in exile, is asking the world to do, and this is exactly what we in Manchester will keep doing.

Being in Britain, our unwavering commitment to Palestinians is even more crucial. We are aware of the historical complicity of this country’s government; a complicity stretching back over 100 years. Enabling the catastrophe of Palestinians in 1948 was not enough. By supporting Israel in all ways possible in its genocidal campaign, including attacking Yemen, Britain is once again ensuring Zionist war crimes persist.

We are also aware of genocide profiteers operating right here on our doorstep; who are actively participating in genocide, be it by arming Israel or investing in any way in its murderous war machine. Manchester has shown that continued mobilisation and actions will make them cut ties. We will keep going, in our masses, to ensure all other companies fuelling murder and destruction do not go on unhinged.

Global complicity in the massacres happening in Gaza and all across Palestine must end now. It is up to us to make sure justice for Palestine must happen within our lifetime! Join us on Saturday 20th January at 12:00pm to say it loudly and clearly. Meeting at St. Peter’s square, Manchester.

Day of Action – Barclays Stop Investing In Genocide

Day of action to close Barclays account for its investment in genocide and the ongoing crimes of Israeli settler-colonialism!

The Palestinians in Gaza have been subjected to more than three months of genocide, during which we were witnesses to the continuous atrocities that are leaving people dead, unsafe, detained, brutalised, cold and hungry. The Israeli regime has managed to escalate a 75-years-old brutal settler-colonial regime right in front of everyone’s eyes.

Israel does not operate alone. It has a wider web of establishment and companies operating for its benefit and prolonging its systematic violence against Palestinians.

These bloodthirsty profiteers of extermination are operating right here on our doorstep, one being Barclays Bank which has ignored years of activism against its over 1 billion £ investment in weapons manufacturers allowing the murder of Palestinians, including investments in the deadly Elbit Systems, BAE Systems and many others with a track record of supplying the Israeli military with equipment needed to turn an entire population into a testing ground for weapons, and to erase it off the face of the earth.

Now it’s time to escalate and raise our fight to a new level. These funds come from the clients of Barclays, turning any one of them into to an accomplice. If you don’t wish to be complicit in war crimes you must close down your Barclays account now! Do it for the sake of humanity and justice, and to stand on the right side of history.

Join the protests on the national day of action against Barclays in Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Blackburn, Bolton, Huddersfield, Stockport, Bradford, Altrincham and Preston on Monday 15 January 2023 at 13:00 pm, and take a vow to keep solidarity going and to never fail the Palestinians in their struggle for justice and liberation.
