Student Demonstration for Palestine! University of Manchester Complicit in Israeli Occupation!
Since the beginning of 2025, the Zionist regime’s military invasion of the West Bank has killed over 70 Palestinians and forcefully displaced at least 40,000 Palestinians from their homes. The Israeli Occupation Forces are bombing entire homes and buildings, besieging hospitals, conducting arrests and committing endless crimes.
These are not isolated events. These are the same tactics the Israeli vile army has normalised during its 15-month genocidal campaign in Gaza and decades of occupation, and form yet another attempt to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from their land, a reality Palestinians have been enduring for over 76 years.
What happens in Palestine, the continued flow of rivers of Palestinian blood, and the massacre after the other, concern each and every one of us studying, teaching and working in the halls of the imperial core’s academia, and concerns all other community members. The University of Manchester holds partnerships with Israeli institutions, like Tel Aviv University (TAU), an entity directly involved in Israel’s web of oppression, dispossession and murder machinery.
Since the start of our campaign against UoM’s complicity, the management has found ways to defend the indefensible, or claim « neutrality », while in reality supporting those that prosper at the expense of a colonised population. Time and time again, UoM management has ignored Palestinian bloodshed and whitewashed its despicable ties to TAU with claims of « academic freedom ». No longer will we allow management to distort reality, nor normalise Zionism and its deadly nature.
We must do the bare minimum to support the Palestinian cause, and stand in solidarity with Palestinians in their struggle for liberation, and that is to ensure Zionism is out of our streets and institutions. So join our demonstration on Wednesday, 11.30am at Whitworth Arch, Oxford Road.
