The British Media’s servility to Israel has been a crucial enabler for Israel’s 21-month slaughter of over 100,000 Palestinians. Their allegiance to Israel is very deliberate as is the mainstream media’s allegiance to the powerful in England.
Most of the media are financed and owned by right wing billionaires. The board of the BBC state broadcaster meanwhile has gradually been taken over by Conservatives and Israel supporters.
Israel, the West’s psychopathic colonial creation to safeguard oil and gas in the Middle East is very much still acceptable to the British elite and establishment, no matter their brutal quest to ethnically cleanse the indigenous Palestinians. Even a nearly 2-year live televised slaughter of children hasn’t changed this reality.
And so Israel’s Apartheid (according to Amnesty International), Occupation (according to the UN) and now Genocide (according to the ICC and ICJ) are described as “conflict”, and televised massacres of Palestinians are “clashes”. Every self-evident war crime Israel commits is followed by hours of air-time for Israeli spokespeople to spread more lies and excuses.
From the omission of crucial context to the failure to confront Israel’s explicit calls for genocide, ethnic cleansing and now concentration camps, our media’s elevation of the Israeli perspective is only matched by their silencing and delegitimising of Palestinian voices.
So we must keep exposing them, especially now the cracks are starting to appear through social media and the brave Palestinians beneath the bombs with phones that have not only exposed Israel, but the whole sham of Western democracy, human rights and open media. For this courage alone we must keep standing with Palestine.
So everyone should be out 1pm, Saturday 19th July, at the BBC Media City to demand justice and truth.
