With the first phase of the ceasefire begun,!the people of Gaza hold out cautious hope and celebrate in the streets as the genocidal assault of the zionist machine has been halted, thanks to the tenacity of the resistance and the steadfastness of all the people of Gaza.
On the 25th, families and friends separated by the forced displacement of people into southern Gaza will be given the opportunity to rejoice as they return to their homes in the north – prefacing the ultimate return of all refugees to their lands.
As Palestine welcomes back its political prisoners released from Israel’s dungeons over the coming 42 days, it is imperative we remind ourselves to honour their dedication to the liberation of Palestine.
It is for this dedication that they have been made to suffer by internment, torture, abuse, medical negligence, and countless unspeakable crimes.
Whilst we celebrate the ceasefire and the freedom of the political prisoners, it remains that the occupation of Palestine is not over. The beast has gorged itself on the blood of the Palestinian and Arab people, and it is ever hungry for more. This morning in the West Bank, further aggression was unleashed upon steadfast Jenin in a military raid by the Israeli army, martyring at least 9 people and wounding dozens and abducting more.
Our martyrs are the stars in our skies. Here on earth it is of utmost importance to remember: We do not forgive and we do not forget.
In defence of this hard-won ceasefire, Manchester will continue to take various actions against complicity and collusion with zionism. We will not rest on our laurels as the people of Palestine continue to struggle, even in respite.
In this spirit, make sure to mobilise this Saturday in Piccadilly Gardens to continue the fight until victory!
