What more does the management of the University of Manchester (UoM) need to see in order to cut ties with Israel? Apparently, not 76 years of ethnic cleansing, nor over 17 months of genocide, nor daily raids and forced displacement to Palestinian refugee camps are enough. For UoM, Palestinian blood is cheap and not worth cutting ties with genocidal entities perpetuating suffering and destruction.
It is appalling that UoM management is still hiding behind ridiculous and false claims of academic “freedom” and “neutrality” while Palestinians are being annihilated, and Palestinian universities in Gaza have been flattened to the ground by the Zionist murder machinery, a machinery aided by institutions like Tel Aviv University (TAU), UoM’s partner.
This week marks the Israeli Apartheid Week, a week where we must take more and more actions here on the streets of the imperial core, reasserting our never-ending commitment towards the Palestinian struggle for liberation.
On 30 March, Palestinians commemorate Palestinian Land Day, when they rose up in defiance of Israeli attempts of confiscating Palestinian lands in the Galilee, and Israel shooting dead 6 protestors. We honour Palestinian sacrifices, uprisings and martyrs, and stand with them as they fight to remain steadfast on their land, a land colonised by Israel and its institutions, including TAU.
