Despite various international bodies such as the UN calling for governments and companies to stop all arms sales and exports last year, the British government continues to provide diplomatic cover by inviting the Israeli foreign secretary and military support by allowing exports to Israel to continue.
Meanwhile, this government continues to make cuts for much needed welfare, including support for disabled people. Yet, the defence budget will be seeing a steady increase of 2.5% of the country’s GDP.
Thales has also recently won some government contracts focusing on air defence missiles and remains in partnership with Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer.
