Dr. Mona El-Farra shares an update on your GMFP donations reaching families refusing to leave their demolished homes…
To remain on your land when everything around you has been levelled is an act of unimaginable courage.
This week, through your steadfast support and donations to GMFP, Dr. Mona El-Farra (Director of Gaza Projects for the Middle East Children’s Alliance) was on the ground in the Zeitoun neighbourhood of Gaza, distributing heavy winter blankets to those who need them most.
The reality in Zeitoun is stark. The neighbourhood has been completely destroyed. This is not a designated camp; this is a community where families are now living in makeshift tents pitched directly next to the ruins of their demolished homes. They are holding their ground, just 200 metres away from the yellow line.
Reflecting on the distribution, Dr. Mona shared a message of both profound grief and unbreakable resolve:
“Despite the pain that I feel seeing my people in such an ordeal, they are so grateful for the blankets. I have been there with you before, teaching on the rubble. The destruction is vast, but we will continue.”
The photographs attached to this email are a testament to that continuation. They show the direct result of your solidarity. When you provide a blanket, you are not just offering physical warmth against the bitter winter; you are wrapping a family in the knowledge that they are seen, supported, and not forgotten in their steadfastness.
Our work is far from over. As long as they remain on their land, we must remain by their side.
In steadfastness and hope,
The GMFP Team & Dr. Mona El-Farra
