Community gathering and Protest! Staff, students, and wider community, All out on Wednesday 4th of June to reaffirm our solidarity and call on the University of Manchester: Cut ties with Tel Aviv University! Cut ties with genocide!

Protest: 4:30 pm National Graphene Institute (NGI)

Community gathering: 5:30 pm Dr Adnan Al Bursh (Brunswick) park.

This Wednesday, not only will we again confront the University’s management on their shameful refusal to cut ties, we are also planning a community gathering on Dr Adnan Al Bursh park, with food and activities, to mark the end of this year of campaigning and reaffirm our commitment to continue in our solidarity and action for Palestine. If the University thinks they can wait us out they are wrong. As staff, students and the wider community, we will confront them on their genocidal partnerships for as long as it takes.

For more than 600 days, we have watched every atrocity committed with impunity by the Israeli regime. Children burned alive and shot in cold blood as they desperately pleaded for help. The elderly and infirm, forced to walk and hobble miles and miles as they run away from yet more bombs. Men called mere minutes before the Zionist regime would bomb their houses, expected to make it there to evacuate their families with no transport.

Israel has done all this with weaponry conceptualised and developed by its universities. Tel Aviv University is not just an institution that coincidentally happened to be in a genocidal state. It is an active participant of this genocide.

When we call for the University to cut ties, we do not call for the disruption of the free and unbiased sharing of information. We call for an end to the perversion of our intellect. We call for end to the use of our knowledge and tuition fees for death and destruction. Other universities have cut ties due to TAU’s contributions that the University management has been aware of for months. Still, they stubbornly choose to line their pockets with the blood of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.

The University of Manchester pretends not to hear our calls to fulfil its moral obligations to social responsibility. We will call louder!
