All out in Manchester on Saturday 5th September, 12pm, Albert Square. No ‘Back to School’ in Gaza this year! Stop Israel’s Destruction of Palestinian education!
As students around the world commence new semesters, students in Gaza have had their lives and educations destroyed. Israel, in its brutal genocide of Palestinians, has destroyed over 90% of schools in Gaza.
Over 22,000 Palestinian children have been slaughtered, over 44,000 have been injured, and thousands more unknown martyrs remain. While children around the world embark upon next steps to building their futures, Israel has ensured that countless Palestinians children no longer have futures; entire young generations starved, bombarded and ripped apart day-in, day-out.
This is the third year that Palestinian students in Gaza have had their dreams of education crushed, a right denied to over 758,000 children. Meanwhile, children in Gaza are being subjected by the Israeli Occupation Forces to “games” of target practice with “different body parts being targeted on different days”.
In the West Bank, 84 Palestinian schools currently face Israeli demolition or stop-work orders. Almost 13,000 students do not know if their schools will even exist tomorrow, all against the backdrop of Israel’s ongoing expansion of illegal settlements and occupation.
Palestinians have resisted and navigated oppression in astounding ways. They continue to remain steadfast against Israel despite all nefarious tactics used against them. We must channel this resilient spirit here in Britain, which continues to build its economy from Palestinian bloodshed.
The British government is enabling and propping up a brutal regime that has killed over 73,000 documented martyrs in Gaza since October 2023, at least 18,000 being students and 800 being teachers. It is despicable that it is “business as usual” in Britain whilst our government is complicit in war crimes committed by Israel.
We cannot not stand idly by and allow Israel to continue destroying Palestinian lives. We will not rest until we see Palestinians living in dignity and freedom in their homeland.
So join the demonstration on Saturday 5th September, 12pm, Albert Square!
