Steve Roman, a long standing supporter of the Scholarship Fund, will be leading a guided walk along Manchester’s Peace Trail. There will be no charge for the walk but donations on the day, to the Scholarship Fund, will be very welcome.

Date: Sunday 30th July

Time: 1.15pm for a 1.30 start. The walk will finish around 4.15pm in Piccadilly Gardens

Meeting Place: Victoria Station, Manchester – under the tiled map on the concourse

Please join us to explore sites connected with the growth of Manchester as the world’s first industrial city and its importance as a centre for peace and radical political activity, include

  • Peterloo and the popular reform movement
  • The Free Trade Hall, suffragettes to the Sex Pistols
  • Abraham Lincoln, Manchester Cathedral and the campaign against slavery
  • The Hidden Gem and religious tolerance, free thinking and science
  • Migration and the movement of peoples
  • Alan Turing and gay rights
  • MAG and the Nobel Peace Prize
  • The unknown Elizabeth Raffald
  • Historic libraries and public art

The route is flat and suitable for all ages.

Those who went on the walk last year had an extremely enjoyable and informative afternoon, raising around £600 for the Scholarship Fund.
