After 15 months of genocide and countless Israeli massacres and crimes, finally the people of Gaza are getting the long-awaited ceasefire, and are able to breathe without the sounds and fires of Israeli rockets. After 465 days, Palestinians in Gaza can mourn their loved ones without constant fear of being bombed, shot, tortured or detained by Israeli forces on every corner.
While the ceasefire deal has been reached, Gaza is in ruins and over a million in tents are still displaced. The wounds will never be healed and the rivers of bloodshed will never wash away. We mourn each and every martyr, and we promise to never forget nor forgive.
We also await the freedom of Palestinian political prisoners, the compass of our struggle, and we dream of the day all Israeli prisons are dismantled and all Palestinian prisoners are free.
We know that Israeli aggression knows no bounds, and that there is no safety for Palestinians in all of Palestine as long as Israeli colonisation exists. The siege of Gaza has not ended; the occupation has not ended; apartheid and ethnic cleansing have not ended. This is why our actions will continue until Palestine is free!
We also know that Britain will continue arming Israel, as it was shamelessly doing while Israel was committing one war crime after another, and one abhorrent atrocity after another. Our demands for a full arms embargo will not end until we see one!
This past year has been full of action here in the imperial core. But we have a long road ahead. At the beginning of the new year we pledged to keep going, and we will honour this pledge we made, because it is our duty towards the Palestinians. As long as Palestinians resist, we will continue to do our part here!
