All out tomorrow in Manchester at 6pm, St Peter’s Square in support of the hunger strikers! Free political prisoners!
The genocide in Gaza rages on, as does the decimation of the West Bank and the settler-colonial oppression of the rest of Occupied Palestine. Meanwhile, not only does the British government remain intent on maintaining its active participation in Israel’s crimes, but it does all it can to vilify and dehumanise political prisoners who have taken justified direct action to sever Britain’s blood-spattered ties to the brutal regime.
After 50 days, six Palestine Action political prisoners currently remain on hunger strike. Over the last few days, Amu Gib, Kamran Ahmed and Qesser Zahrah have been hospitalised, each having reached critical stages of declination in their health. Their demands have been deliberately ignored by British state and media; demands which we must uphold and amplify in solidarity.
Last week, protesters gathered outside the office of Stockport MP Navendu Mishra to demand he sign the Early Day Motion 2386 in support of the hunger strikers, one of whom being his own constituent. Mr Mishra has since issued a written statement, stating “To be clear, I do not intend to sign EDM 2386.” Mr Mishra further stated, “As an MP, I am elected as a representative, not a delegate, and I must make decisions based on my own judgment and conscience.”
Clearly, Mr Mishra, alongside his other like-minded colleagues and the State they serve, do not consider our political prisoners or their rights, demands and calls for justice, a matter of moral conscience. Yet another failure of so-called representative democracy.
We must hold Britain accountable once and for all, for its shameless censorship, its support for a genocidal entity, and for its demonisation of revolutionary political activism as ‘terrorism’. Palestine is set ablaze with the fires of colonial oppression, and we will not rest until every single one is permanently extinguished and Palestine is free, from the river to the sea.
Join the emergency demonstration tomorrow! Support the hunger strikers – free political prisoners!
