Emergency Protest: All out for the hunger strikers!

When

15th Dec 2025
6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Event Type

Join the emergency demonstration on Monday 15th Dec at 6 PM, outside MP Navendu Mishra’s office at 102 Princes Street, Stockport SK1 1RJ!

We demand that MP Navendu Mishra signs the Early Days Motion 2386 which addresses the prisoners’ hunger strike, including that of activist Umer Khalid, one of Mr Mishra’s own constituents. As the hunger strike reaches day 40, the prisoners are in the danger zone, risking their lives with every passing moment. The motion has garnered 47 signatures so far, stating ‘….extreme concern that a number of prisoners associated with Palestine Action have felt that they had no other recourse to protest against their prison conditions but to launch a hunger strike; and calls upon the Secretary of State for Justice to intervene urgently to ensure their treatment is humane and their human rights are upheld.’

Mr Mishra has yet to respond to an email campaign demanding MPs whose constituents are on hunger strike sign the motion. Umer, who has Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy and has been on hunger strike for over a week, sees his health declining rapidly and experiences breathlessness, worsening mobility and very high ketone levels; all whilst being denied proper medical attention.

This is all happening under a media blackout – 40 days of the media ignoring the largest hunger strike since that of the Irish republicans in the 80s. Political prisoners accused of taking direct action against the genocidal weapons industry have undertaken this hunger strike to demand: immediate bail, an end to the censorship of their communication, a fair trial, the deproscription of Palestine Action, the shutting down of Elbit Systems and the reopening of the Gaza inquiry. Inspired by the steadfastness of the Palestinian prisoners who have suffered for decades, and their organisation, movement and use of hunger strikes, the prisoners here align themselves with and stand in solidarity with their Palestinian cousins facing horrific torture in Israeli prisons.

We demand fair trials, an urgent response, and an end to political persecution and the misuse of terror legislation to target peaceful protestors against Israeli genocide.
