All out in Manchester on Saturday, 01 November, 12pm, St. Peter’s Square. From Balfour’s promise to a century of complicity. End British support for Israel’s theft of Palestine!

On 02 November 1917, lord Arthur Balfour, the then British foreign secretary, issued a statement whereby he promises the land of Palestine to the Zionist movement, paving the way for the ethnic cleansing of Palestine and the creation of the Israeli state at the expense of the Palestinian population. It was a promise by those that do not own the land to a settler-colonial movement.

The British colonial rule in Palestine made sure that the Zionist movement would be able to steal the lands and control critical infrastructure, and has repressed any Palestinian resistance.

What followed the Balfour Declaration was a century of Israeli theft of Palestinian land, accompanied by occupation, oppression, torture, forced displacement, apartheid, siege and countless massacres and crimes, all escalating in the genocide on Gaza in the last two years.

What also followed was ongoing British complicity with Israeli crimes, ranging from arming Israel and providing it with diplomatic support, to silencing and criminalising pro-Palestine voices in Britain.

It’s an active participation in genocide and ethnic cleansing that stretches from the hallways of the parliament to the weapons factories. It’s an active participation in bloodshed, of which the British establishment has full expertise on due to centuries of colonisation, exploitation and imperial domination across the globe.

The scenes of the shattered homes, the mass graveyards, the mutilated bodies, the 20,000 dead children, the over 100,000 dead and the entire areas in Gaza completely wiped off the face of the earth will be a constant reminder of Britain’s brutality.

That’s why it relies on us, the people, to take action against this complicity in solidarity with Palestine. So join us on Saturday, 12pm, St. Peter’s Square.
