This year we are very fortunate to have, as our guest speaker, Dr Mona El-Farra, Vice- President of the Red Cresent in Gaza  and Director of Gaza Projects for the Middle East Childrens Alliance, who lives in Gaza and  was instrumental in setting up the Scholarship Fund. Mona is currently visiting the UK and will be speaking about the situation in Gaza and about what the Scholarship Fund means to the students we support. This is a rare opportunity to hear direct from someone who lives and works in the area, as it is almost impossible for residents to get permission to leave the Gaza Strip.

As well as our guest speaker we will have live music from local musicians, tea and homemade cakes, an update on the Scholarship Fund’s activities during the year and Palestinian goods and jewellery for sale. The event will also be our AGM.

Please show your support for women’s education in Gaza by coming along to this event. See the flyer for more information or email saddleworth.pwsf@gmail.com.

Saddleworth PWSF’s next fundraising event will be on Sunday, 11 October from 2-5 pm in Uppermill, Oldham. We will have:

  • live music
  • wonderful homemade refreshments
  • Palestinian crafts and jewellery for sale
  • an update on our activities during the year
  • a key note speaker

Our last fundraising event (the sponsored walk in May) raised almost £4,000, enough to support 3 women for the full 3 years of their higher education. So please put this date in your diary. This event will also be our AGM.

For more information please contact saddleworth.pwsf@gmail.com or check this site nearer the time.
