Join the demonstration in Manchester this Saturday 16th November! No Climate Justice Without Palestinian Liberation! Meeting at St Peter’s Square, 12pm
Over the last 76 years, the Zionist regime has systematically utilised climate and environmental oppression as a tool to control and decimate Palestinians and their ancestral lands, be it through destruction of Palestinian agricultural industries, appropriation and theft of natural resources, or greenwashing war crimes by presenting “afforestation projects” conducted on stolen land as “combating climate change”. Off the back of a brutal 17-year siege, the ongoing genocide in Gaza has also exposed Israel’s deliberate attempts to render Gaza unliveable through ecocide.
As we know, the Zionist regime is only as strong as its network of global collaborators. This year, the UN Climate Change Conference (COP-29) is being held in Baku, Azerbaijan between 11th – 22nd November. The hypocrisy of the Azeri government in hosting the conference is astounding, given it plays an active role in ensuring Israel has the resources it needs to fuel genocide.
Israel receives approximately 30% of its oil from Azerbaijan via the BTC pipeline. The final stop of the BTC pipeline is in Turkey, from which point the oil is shipped to Israel. This pipeline is majority-owned by BP and SOCAR – Azerbaijan’s state oil company. Turkey, despite presenting itself as an avid supporter of Palestinian liberation, has in fact done nothing to cease or restrict energy and oil exports to Israel.
Without access to energy, oil, coal, gas, and the funding from such industries, Israel would not be able to continue the genocide in Gaza or its settler-colonial expansion in Palestine and now, southern Lebanon. It is up to us to hold accountable all complicit entities fuelling Israel and permitting it to escalate its violent oppression of Palestinians.
Palestine is undoubtedly a cause of both de-colonial change and climate justice; and so we must all unite in solidarity against Zionist corruption. Raise your voice to call upon global powers to stop fuelling Israel! Join the demonstration on Saturday 16th November, St Peter’s Square, 12pm!
