All out in Manchester on 4 July, 12 pm, Albert Square!
During its 18-year-long brutal siege on Gaza, Israel subjected its population to continuous military assaults that have devastated people’s lives, livelihood and infrastructure. In 2014, we thought we saw the worst, when Israel, for 51 days, murdered 2251 Palestinians, injured over 11,200 and displaced over 500,000. More than 1500 children were orphaned. The bombing also targeted schools sheltering the displaced. The is only naming a few of the Israeli atrocities committed then.
We commemorate this heart-breaking anniversary while an even bigger earth-shattering crime is ongoing- the genocide in Gaza, that in spite of a so-called ceasefire has not ended, as Israel has killed over a 1000 people since the deal was signed. During over two years of genocide, there is nothing that the depraved Zionists have not done. We witnessed the most unimaginable crimes committed by one of the most vile occupying armies in the world.
The 2014 assault, like the ones that preceded and the ones that followed, show that the genocide happened because all of the previous assaults, and the siege, were allowed to happen in the first place. This genocide is an escalation of previous war crimes, and of 78 years of Israel’s ethnic cleansing of Palestine.
6 months before the 2014 assault, the British establishment approved over £7 million worth of arms sales to Israel. In the following years, it has exported nearly £500 million of equipment and military hardware to Israel. The arming of Israel continued throughout the genocide, making Britain an active participant in the annihilation of Palestinians. This is on top of silencing and criminalising British citizens that are trying to stop the genocide and save Palestinian lives.
This means we have a duty here to stop British complicity in Palestinian suffering once and for all, and to continue our solidarity with Palestine no matter what, until Palestine is free!
So join us on Saturday, 12pm!
