Last night, as the world counted down to midnight, celebrating and welcoming the New Year, Palestinians in Gaza recognised it as the next chapter of onslaught. As fireworks glittered the skies in Britain with colours and shapes and intricate extravaganza, the sounds of explosions only meant one thing in Gaza; the continuation of genocide.
The list of martyrs grows day by day, and the first day of 2025 has been no exception. Today, at least 15 Palestinians have been killed and dozens more injured in yet further deadly Israeli air strikes in Jabalia, Bureij refugee camp and Khan Younis. There has been no respite for Palestinians from the brutal genocidal Zionist forces.
Yet Palestinians, against the backdrop of genocide, have refused to submit and continue to stand defiant. Therefore, we must do the same. Through the lens of Palestine, we have become one voice in our fight against corruption, colonisation and oppression.
2024 was a year of Gaza liberating the world and exposing all, a year of countless global victories as people across the world rose up to sever the ties around them to the Zionist regime. In Manchester alone, we saw this happen again and again, from iO Associates to Puma to AXA and more. It is with this same conviction, and invigorated motivation, that we strive for even more victories for Palestine this year.
We enter into 2025 with a pledge to Palestine; to continue calling for a full arms embargo, to remain undeterred in our demand for an end to the genocide, and to uphold our unwavering solidarity and pursuit of Palestinian liberation. Though so much loss has been suffered, we must not fall into despair. We must not let this loss be in vain. Let us make 2025 the year we finally see justice for Palestine!
